Obituary Saugerties – Theodore H. Carlson, Jr. died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at home. He was 92 years old. He was born May 13, 1918 in Highwoods the son of Theodore H. Sr. and Rosalie Roux Carlson. On January 25, 1947 he married the former Dorothy VanBramer. A self employed carpenter and cabinet maker, he was a member and past president of the Saugerties Snow Drifters. He was a skilled mason particularly with brick veneer work. He built scores of house in the Kingston, Glasco, Saugerties and Woodstock area including his own home where he resided for more than 60 years. He was in charge of the installation of bowling equipment when John Ferraro built his bowling alleys in Kingston and Ulster. He was also a talented automobile mechanic and rebuilt a number of motors. He and his nephew were also involved in local stock car racing in the 1960's. During WWII he served as part of the 8th Army Air Corp in the European Theatre of Operations. He was stationed in England for 2 1/2 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Georgette Cutler and her husband Donald and Elsa Norton and her husband Gary of Amsterdam, NY; a son, Erik Carlson of Highwoods; and a sister Rosalie Heitzman of Hurley, NY. Four grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Violet Terpening and Cecelia Axon. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, May 24, 2010 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street Chapel, Saugerties, NY. Rev. James Aley, Pastor of Katsbaan Reformed Church will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow immediately in Mount Marion Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.
