Palenville – Rusty Luther died Monday, September 22, 2025 at his home. He was 80 years old.

Born January 24, 1945 in Saugerties, NY, he was the son of Reginald Luther and Emily Casperson Luther. On July 10, 1998, he married Diane Lossow.

Retired from Lacy Ford in Catskill where he was the service manager, old cars and racing were favorite past-times. Rusty loved his family and spending time with them. The kids in the family all enjoyed time spent hunting and camping with him. A good time for Rusty was retelling stories about his younger days and the adventures he had with others; and if the story being told was not exciting enough, he had no trouble embellishing it more and more.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Anthony Marchesani and his husband Aleksandr Chadin of Land O' Lakes, Florida; his siblings, Anita Hinchey and her husband Joe, Edwin Luther, Eileen Araujo and Priscilla Whitaker; his close family friend Jay Menelaous; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son Ronald Luther; and his siblings James Luther , Barry Luther, Regina Buley , Ernest Luther, and Marlene Luther.

Funeral services will be held 5:30 PM Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, NY. Cremation will follow at the convenience of the family.
