West Hurley – Rudy Mauro, Jr. died Wednesday July 15, 2015 at HealthAlliance Broadway Campus Kingston. He was 67 years old.
Born March 7, 1948 in Kingston, he was the son of Rudy and Concetta Perry Mauro. He was pre-deceased by his wife Theresa Ross Mauro on March 14, 2014. They had been married 31 years.
Rudy was employed as a truck driver by Baker Bros. Construction Equipment in Hurley. Prior to that, he was the Deputy Superintendant of the Town of Hurley Highway Department and a brick layer in the Masons International Union Local #5 in Poughkeepsie. A lifelong hunter and fisherman, he belonged to the Wittenberg Gun Club, the former Glasco Gun Club and many other sporting and gun clubs throughout the area. He was a member of the Glasco Fire Company.
A classic car show enthusiast, he has owned several award winning cars over the years. Of the two cars he currently owns, his pride and joy was his '48 Ford F1 pick-up which won a trophy at this year's Sawyer Car Show in Saugerties.
Survivors include his daughter, Erika Nagy and her fiancé Jonathan Craft of Saugerties; two grandchildren Darren and Morgan Nagy; three brothers Frank Mauro and his partner Debbie Prior of Jewett, Timothy Mauro and his wife Sandy of Glasco, and Kevin Mauro and his wife Rose of Glasco. Several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, July 24, 2015 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street Chapel, Saugerties, NY. Cremation will follow at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Thursday from 3:00 PM until 800 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in his memory be made to Catskill Animal Sanctuary, 316 Old Stage Road, Saugerties, NY 12477.
