Saugerties – Rose L. Topple died Friday, March 17, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Syracuse, NY. She was 91 years old.
Born September 3, 1925 in Staten Island, she was the daughter of Stephen and Theresa Horvath Bacovcin. On January 18, 1944 she married Edwin Topple who pre-deceased her on July 12, 2011.
A parishioner of St. John the Evangelist in Centerville for more than 50 years along with her husband, Deacon Ed, Rose was very active in the parish community. She was also a longtime member of the Cursillo Movement and prayer group. She helped Deacon Ed teach RCIA and was a Eucharistic Minister for many years. Prior to her marriage she had been employed as a clerk at Doubleday on Long Island.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lorraine McKeon and her husband Dave of Syracuse, NY and Carol Koop and her husband Edward of Wallkill, NY; five Grandchildren, Brian McKeon Raelene McKeon Kent, Jon Koop, Kristen Koop Orter and Matthew Koop; six great-grandsons, Brian, Jr., Josiah, Gabriel, Kaleb, all McKeons, and Karter and Keaton Kent; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Rose was pre-deceased by four siblings, Joseph, Josephine, Julia, and Stephen.
A procession will form 9:15 AM Thursday, March 23, 2017 and proceed to St. John the Evangelist Parish Center in Centerville where a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow immediately in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights. Friends may call Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.
