Saugerties – Rose Buonfiglio, 100, of Saugerties, passed away Sunday January 14, 2024 at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingston with her family and caretaker Bernadette by her side. She was born to the late Thomas and Ida Ciarlante on the waterfront in Glasco, NY on December 17, 1923.

She was married to her grade school sweetheart, Nicholas Buonfiglio on August 25, 1946. Her husband pre-deceased her on September 23, 2009. Rose was also pre-deceased by her brothers Robert Ciarlante, the Twins Anthony and Thomas; by her sister Marie (Ciarlante) Arena; by her grandson Cody Kommer; and by her great-grandson Justin McLoughlin.

Rose is survived by her three children, Nicholas Buonfiglio, Jr., Rosemarie (Buonfiglio) Kommer & her husband James, and Thomas Buonfiglio and his wife Julia; her six grandchildren Regina Porpora and her husband Pasquale, Deanna Buonfiglio, Brandon Kommer and his wife Sarah, Kyle Kommer and his wife Lorraine, Nicole Kurtz and her husband Logan, and Joseph Buonfiglio and his wife Amanda; her six great-grandchildren Nicholas Kohan, Shannon Kohan, Oliver Kommer, Ingrid Kommer, Tucker Buonfiglio, and Hosanna Buonfiglio; and by her three nieces who were like daughters, Nadena Penovich, Barbara Quick, and Alison Ciarlante.

Rose loved to dance, so every Friday was date night and dancing with the Leftfooters Square Dance Club. She also enjoyed quotes and always recalled a quote from her high school graduation, "a man of word and not of deed is like a garden full of weeds." That pretty well explains how she lived her life. Another quote she referred to almost daily was, "Im not complaining, I'm just explaining." But most importantly her family will always remember "We have to do it Rosie's way."

Funeral procession will form 10:00 AM Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., and then proceed to St. Joseph's RC Church in Glasco where an11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow immediately in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights. Friends may call Wednesday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street, Saugerties.
