Palenville – Robert "Bob" Gardner died Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley, Broadway, Kingston. He was 57 years old.
Born July 2, 1959 in Kingston, NY, he is the son of Robert Gardner and the late Agnes Lawless Gardner. He married the former Dolores Rockwell on May 14, 1983. He worked as a security guard for Command Security in Poughkeepsie.
Bob enjoyed history and was active with several re-enactor groups including revolutionary, civil war and medieval. He was also very interested in Viking history and lore. He worked as a handy man with his company Ragnar Traveling Tradesman. An avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman, he was a past member of the Saugerties Landowners and Sportmen's Association. He was a member of the Monday Night Saugerties Dartball League, a life member of the Sons of the American Legion and an associate member of the Northeast Vietnam Veteran's Association. He also served as chaplain of Chapter 60 Vietnam Veterans and was an associate member. Bob had a passion for antiques and was a coin collector.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by two sons Robert of Poughkeepsie and Michael of Palenville; by his sister Lisa Gardner of Saugerties; and his mother-in-law Catherine Rockwell of Saugerties.
A Funeral procession will form 10:00 AM Monday, August 29, 2016 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street, Saugerties, NY and then proceed to Sacred Heart Church in Palenville, where a 11:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Cremation will follow at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Mt. Sinai Hospital transplant center.
