Saugerties – Richard (Rick) A. Ormandy died Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Home. He was 81 years old.
Born May 10, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late William Ormandy and the late Mary Bennett Ormandy Flynn. On July 10, 2004, he married Patricia Law Ormandy. From 1959 until 1963, he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Mills DE-DER 383. Rick participated in a weekly Zoom meeting with his shipmates.
Rick retired in 2008 from Korry Electronics of Seattle, WA, as Vice-President of Quality, Security and Facilities. He was a Range Instructor with SafeShoot Shooting Sports Complex in Kingston, NY. A Landowners and Sportsmen's Association member, he enjoyed outdoor activities. He also had many collections, including marbles and coins. Rick was a member of the American Legion Post 72.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Michelle Desrosiers of Buxton, ME, Maureen L. Mazur and her husband Kevin Norberg of Gray, ME, and Christyann Rice of Jacksonville, NC. He is also survived by his son-in-law Steve Rice, of Jacksonville, NC; his grandchildren, Brett A. Desrosiers, Denver N. Mazur, Jeremy J. Mazur, Stefanie "Rain" Rice, and Kara-May Rice and her fiancé JoeRay Villanueva and their children Nathaniel and Rick's first great-grandchild Nora Ray, who will join the family in October. He was pre-deceased by his brother Bruce in 2009. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
