Obituary

Saugerties – Richard L. Bollin died Saturday May 4, 2013 at Northern Dutchess hospital. He was 85 years old. Born May 15, 1927 in Ellenville, NY he was the son of Frank and Anna Olive Kelp Bollin. On September 14, 1947 he married the former Rolande Pichon. She pre-deceased him on September 23, 2011 after more than 64 years of marriage. A Veteran of the US Army during WWII, he served in Orly, France following the end of the war. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was also a member of both the Ulster County and Dutchess County Genealogical Societies. He also served as both a Cub Scout leader of Pack 138 and a Boy Scout leader of Troop 138. He retired from IBM in Kingston as a machinist and was one of the first 100 members of the Quarter Century Club. An active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Saugerties, he was a member of the Church Vestry and a Warden of Trinity Cemetery. He enjoyed hunting, hiking, fishing and camping with family members and friends. After retirement he and his wife, Rolande, enjoyed viewing the scenery when traveling by automobile across the country to visit state and national parks. He is survived by two sons, Richard R. Bollin of Saugerties and Gary F. Bollin an his wife Katherine of Albany, NY; five grandchildren, Michael Bollin, Jennifer Fellows and her husband Ken, Karla Marie Connelly and her husband Christopher, Garielle Bollin, and Evan Bollin; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Nicolas. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Saugerties with Rev. Michael A Phillips, Vicar officiating. Burial will follow immediately in Trinity Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, NY.
