Ulster Park – Peter Daniel Van Loan died Friday, June 11, 2021 at Northern Dutchess Hospital. He was 78 years old.

Born October 22, 1942 in Kingston, NY, he was the son of Leslie and Ester Flynn Van Loan. He married the love of his life, Joan Dwyer Van Loan on January 12, 1963.

A graduate of Kingston High School and UCC, he served in the US Airforce from 1960 to 1965 in Spain and Florida. He retired from IBM in Kingston where he was employed for many years. Antiquing with his family was a favorite pastime and over the years he acquired many unique collections. Music was an enjoyment and he taught himself to play both the keyboard and guitar. You could always find him sitting in "his" porch room, listening to the oldies, waiting to greet family and friends.

Peter was a loving Husband, Dad, and PopPop. His family meant the world to him. He was kind and caring soul to everyone he met, often referred to as a "sweet man". He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Joan; his children, Daniel (Vicki), Kellie Buono (Patrick), Peter (Kelly), Joanne Flood (Kevin); his grandchildren, Karlie, Jake, Sydney, Aiden, Lucy, Hadley, Liz, Richard, and Thomas; his brothers, Donald (the late Joan), Jay (Nancy), Vincent (Sherrie) and his sister, Margaret Wayne (Mike); several nieces and nephews; and his fur baby, Marco. He was predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Ester; his brother, Edward; his loving granddaughter Cassidy Flood; and his fur baby, Quinn.

Funeral services are private and under the direction of Buono Funeral Service, Inc. in Saugerties. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
