Saugerties – Nancy Carolyn Wood Kennedy died Sunday, December 3, 2017 surrounded by her family at Albany Medical Center. She was 79 years old.

Born October 13, 1938 in Clarksburg, WV, she was the daughter of Ellis and Edna Marshall Wood. On May 9, 1964 she married James W. Kennedy Jr.

Nancy had a love of cooking and studied Foods and Nutrition at Carnegie Tech. During the early 1960's Nancy was employed by Pan-Am Airlines as a stewardess and later as a reservation agent. From 1987 until 2000 she worked for JC Penney as a manager in their catalog and gift registry departments. Nancy was active in Alcoholics Anonymous for more than three decades and volunteered for several years with the Dutchess County Council on Alcoholism and Chemical Dependency. During the early and mid-1990s, she served on the Poughkeepsie City School District CSE board as a Parent Advocate for children with special education needs. She was also an active member of Holy Trinity Parish in Poughkeepsie for many years.

In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by her daughter Lucienne Kennedy of Duluth, GA; Cousins Marshall Johnston and Don Mobley of Brandon, FL, Scott Johnston of Atlanta, GA, Matthew Johnston and James Kiser. She was pre-deceased by her brother James Wood.

Cremation Services were under the direction of Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at St. Joseph's Church in Glasco. Interment of cremains will follow immediately in the Natural Burial Grounds of the Town of Rhinebeck Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
