Saugerties – Mary F. Winchell died Thursday, May 5, 2022 at HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley, Broadway Campus in Kingston. She was 100 years old.

Born October 9, 1921 in Saugerties, she was the daughter of the late John Legg and the late Jenny C. Brown Legg. On August 28, 1948 she married Roger W. Winchell, Sr, who pre-deceased her on March 12, 2004.

Prior to her retirement she worked for Rotron in Woodstock, and previously had worked in Ferroxcube. During World War II she was employed by DeVale Corporation in Poughkeepsie. She was a communicant of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Camp.

Survivors include her son, Roger W. Winchell, Jr and his wife Donna of Saugerties; her grandchildren, Travis Winchell of Saugerties, Katelyn Winchell and her husband Kevin Sickler of Greenport, NY, Carine Lareau and her fiancé Joe Turnbull of Saugerties, Shannon Shea and her husband Chris of Germantown, Jean "DJ" Lareau and his wife Crystal of Saugerties; her grandchildren, Madison, Brayden, Alivia, Carter, Colton, Maeve, and Reese. She is also survived by her siblings Helen Benson of Tennessee, Bert Legg of Virginia, Shirley Rose of Virginia, and Fred Legg of Saugerties; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Camp. Interment will follow immediately in Eastern View Cemetery, West Camp. Friends may call Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Buono Funeral Service, Inc, Main Street, Saugerties.
