Saugerties - Mary-Kathryn Poletto, a long-time resident of Saugerties, New York, died peacefully, surrounded by family, at ArchCare at Ferncliff nursing home in Rhinebeck, New York, on January 26, 2023.

Born on March 22, 1943, in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, Mary-Kathryn – known as Kathie – was a daughter of the late Edward Victor Moran and Kathryn (Williams) Moran.
Kathie is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Poletto of Saugerties; her daughters and sons-in-law, Valentina Poletto and Josh London of Madison, New Jersey; Heidi Poletto and Douglas Fleming of Rhinebeck, New York; Anita and Greg Montano of Chappaqua, New York; her nine beloved grandchildren; and her brother, William L. Moran, Sr., of Poughkeepsie, New York. She was predeceased by her sister, Edith Sooy, of Dover, Massachusetts.

At age six, Kathie moved with her family from Canada to Brooklyn, and then to Hudson, New York. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Hudson, and attended the College of St. Rose, in Albany, New York. She and John were married in 1967 in Hudson, New York, later moving to Saugerties, where together they raised their three children. Kathie was a dedicated wife and mother, a devoted daughter, a loving sister, aunt and grandmother. She was a wonderful cook, whose recipes are shared and treasured. Kathie connected with people easily and was appreciated for her warm personality, kindheartedness, quick wit and sense of humor. She loved to share a good joke – but loved hearing one even more. She will be greatly missed.

Calling hours for family and friends will be held at Buono Funeral Service, Inc, 100 Main Street, Saugerties, New York, on Tuesday, January 31, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary of the Snow Church, Saugerties, Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will follow in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend.
