Saugerties – Mary Margaret Damrath passed away Sunday, August 27 at HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley Mary's Avenue Campus. She was 96 years old.

Born January 23, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Theron Stewart and the late Estelle Ware. On November 7, 1953, she married Edward Lee Damrath, who pre-deceased her on February 23, 2019. In her time she worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Buffalo, NY, a student of psychology, and a devoted wife and mother of five.

An avid fan of science fiction, Mary enjoyed all genres including movies, books and television. She was an artist, and an active information surfer and gamer, spending much of her time on her laptop and her Nintendo DS. Embroidery was also one of her past times.

Survivors include her five children, Merillee Coon and her husband Michael "Mickey" of Red Hook, NY, Edward Lee Damrath, Jr. of Richmond, VA; Joseph Jay Damrath and his wife Carolyn of Saugerties, NY, Michael Jay Damrath and his wife Stacy McGuire of Richmond, VA, and Alison Damrath of Port Ewen, NY; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, NY. Cremation will follow at the convenience of the family.
