OBITUARY Saugerties – Marion D Axtell died Friday August 17, 2012 at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home in Lake Katrine. She was 88 years old. Born August 30, 1923 in Kingston, she was the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude Embree Davis. She was pre-deceased by two husbands, Charles Cole in 1963 and Erwin Doug Axtell in 2003. Marion worked for various retail businesses in the area, including Sears and Woolworths. She was a former member of the Saugerties American Legion Auxiliary. An avid Yankee fan and Saugerties Dutchman fan she was also known as the dog lady at Tenbroeck Commons due to her love of animals. Spending time with her family at Moose Pond in the Adirondacks was her favorite activity. Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Mikesh of Kingston; her grandson Raymond Mikesh of Kingston; her sister-in-law, Joanne Holz of Old Lyme, CT, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street Chapel, Saugerties, NY. Rev. Jennifer Bendalius, Pastor of Flatbush Reformed Church in Glasco, will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Lamouree-Hackett Post #72 American Legion in Saugerties.
