Marilyn Marlene Amato, 80, of Saugerties, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on February 25, 1945, in Fredericksburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late John R and Elsie (Bost) Crismond. She was married to the late Peter A. Amato on December 28th 1963.
A devoted Catholic, Marilyn was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary of the Snow Church.
Marilyn worked for a short time as a cashier at Lowe's in Kingston, NY, but her true calling was caring for her family. A dedicated homemaker, she lovingly supported her husband and raised their five children. She treasured every moment spent with her many grandchildren.
She enjoyed bingo nights and never missed her favorite soap operas, especially The Young and the Restless and Santa Barbara.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Peter Amato of Gainesville, FL; John Amato and his wife Jane of Saugerties; Michael Amato and his wife Trisha of Kingston; and her daughter-in-law, Sherri Amato of Saugerties. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Alyssa, Michelle, Matthew, John, Jessica, Delina, Jacob, Michael, Tyler, Natasha, and Anthony; her brother, Ray Crismond of Maryland; 3 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sons Charles Amato and Anthony Amato as well as 15 siblings.

. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery.
