OBITUARY INFORMATION Glasco – Louis Spada died Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Tenbroeck Commons Nursing Home in Lake Katrine. He was 89 years old. Mr. Spada was born October 2, 1920 in Glasco, the son of Michael and Theresa Guido Spada. On November 23, 1941 he married the former Emily Riccio. His wife of 61 years died January 22, 2003. He retired from the reproduction department of IBM in Kingston; prior to IBM he drove bus for Ferraro Bus Lines in Glasco and later worked as a mechanic for Trailways in Kingston. Mr. Spada then worked for Lane Construction where he helped build the NYS Thruway and moved to the Lehigh Cement Plant where he served as a union Shop Steward. He was also for many years a part time caretaker of the Anchorage in Saugerties. He was an active member of the Glasco Fire Company for 70 years. He and his late wife were members of the Lefooters Square Dance Club. He was also a long time member of the Saugerties Dartball League and at one time an assistant coach of the Babe Ruth League American Legion Baseball Team. A communicant of both St. Mary of the Snow and St. Joseph's in Glasco he belonged to the Holy Name Society. Survivors include his daughter, Theresa Liberman and her husband Herbert of West Palm Beach, FL; four sons, Louis and his wife Kathy of Castleton, NY, David and his wife Cynthia of East Greenbush, NY, Daniel and his wife Sadie of Tupper Lake, NY and Alfred and his wife Eileen of Kingston, NY; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael R. and Ellen Pilviste Spada of Kingston, NY; eight grandchildren, Eric, Krista, Jessica, Tony, Rafe, and Redia Spada, Tina Murphy, and Kari Shackelton; and four great-grandchildren. Lidia and Julia Spada, Peyton Corsi and Jacoby Murphy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was pre-deceased by six siblings, John, Frank, and Lillian Spada, Mary Sangi, Rose Carpino, and Jennie Winters. Funeral procession will form 9:15 AM Monday, April 26, 2010 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street Chapel, Saugerties, NY and then proceed to St. Joseph's RC Church in Glasco where a 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Rev. Julian Guzman and Monsignor Charles Zanotti, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street, Saugerties.
