Obituary

Letizia Pia Tagliafierro, 50, of Saugerties, passed away at home, surrounded by her friends and family, on May 23, 2023.

Born March 26, 1973 to the late Michele (Mike) and Anna Tagliafierro, Letizia was a resident of Saugerties. She is survived by her siblings: Michael (Maureen), Helena (Renato) DiBella, Maria, Dennis (Andrea Ramos-Myers), Dominic, and Mario (Natasha). Also surviving are her nieces and nephews: Michael (Jessica) Tagliafierro, Marco (Rosanna) Michela, and Marina DiBella, and John Paul, Michael, and Sophia Tagliafierro. In addition, she is survived by one great nephew, Stefano DiBella. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Letizia was a parishioner of St. Joseph-St. Mary of the Snow in Glasco. She loved to travel, especially to the beach and to Italy to visit her extended family. Letizia had a dynamic personality and enjoyed meeting new people. She had a passion for summers in Saratoga and spending time at the Saratoga Race Course. Above all, she was a selfless and loyal friend and fiercely devoted to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Letizia was a 1991 graduate of Saugerties High School and a 1995 graduate of SUNY Albany. She received her Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School in 1999. Letizia spent her entire career in service to others and was committed to integrity, justice, and public safety. She had a prolific career which began in the NYS Legislature, then as a prosecutor for the Erie County District Attorney's Office in Buffalo. She went on to work in vital roles across State Government, serving in the Executive Chamber, key agencies and Commissions. Letizia was a relentless and compassionate advocate and her leadership created lasting change, improving the lives of countless New Yorkers.

Her funeral procession will form at 9:15 am Saturday May 27 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc, 100 Main Street Saugerties, NY. It will then proceed to St. Mary's Church in Saugerties where a 10:00 Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow immediately in St. Mary's Cemetery, Barclay Heights, Saugerties.
