Colonie, NY – Layne Gilpin died Friday, March 6, 2026 at Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Colonie, NY. She was 71 years old.

Born April 27, 1954 in Plattsburgh, NY, she is the daughter of the Roberta Morris Gilpin and the late Scott Gilpin. She was a long time employee of Ulster County DSS and retired from NYS Dept. of Health where she worked as an Information Technology Specialist.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her daughter, Lara Doyle (Steve) of Cornwall, NY; her siblings Twyla Smith (John) of Kansas City MO, Heidi Fuchs (Al) of Delmar, NY, Sean Gilpin (Carol) of Tillson, NY, Petra Bach (Bill) of Saugerties, NY, and Bryn Gilpin of Salinas, CA; and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended Gilpin and Doyle families.
