Obituary

OBITUARY Glasco, NY – Joseph J. Fabiano died Friday, May 30, 2014 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY. He was 81 years old. Born May 23, 1933 in Glasco, NY, he was the son of Michael and Marietta Garritona Fabiano. On September 8, 1957 he married the former Carol M. Secreto. Joe retired from IBM in1990 after 37 years of service. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, a parishioner of St. Joseph's in Glasco and a member of the Holy Name Society. A member of the Glasco Fire Company for more than 61 years, he served 40 years as a Fire Commisioner and 27 years as Fire Company President. He got his start on the Fabiano Brothers Farms and enjoyed gardening his entire life. He was an avid Yankee fan and thoroughly enjoyed firematic activities. During the Korean War, he served in the US Army and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post #5034 and Lamouree Hacket Post #72 American Legion. He was both a dedicated family man and public servant. Having served as a two term Town Councilman and a Republican Committeeman for 25 years he was proud of many accomplishments. He was a driving force behind the Glasco mini Park and Boat Launch and played a key role initiating and organizing the construction of the new Glasco Fire Hall. He also brought the first Circus to Glasco in 1963 andwas instrumental in the annual Glasco Fire Company Bazaar and Fireworks for many years. In addition to his wife of 56 ½ years, he is survived by four children, Dean Fabiano and his wife Lori, Elaine Trnka and her husband David, Joseph J. Fabiano, Jr and his wife Lori, and Patrick Fabiano and his wife Cathy; five brothers, Anthony, Michael, Ernest, Frank and Cosmo D. Fabiano; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister Frances Martino. A procession will form 9:15 AM Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc. and then to proceed to St. Joseph's Church in Glasco where a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment with full military and firematic honors will follow immediately in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery. Friends may call at Buono Funeral Service, Monday 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Tuesday, 2:00 Pm until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 AM.
