OBITUARY Glasco – John Sasso died peacefully Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home in Lake Katrine. He was 98 years old. Born November 6, 1916, in Glasco, he was the son of Angelo and Teresa Yannone Sasso. He married Rose M. Mayone on September 7, 1941. John served as a US Army medic during WWII. He was employed by both Star Brickyard and Washburn Brickyard in Glasco and worked in construction for many years with Mayone Construction. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and working outdoors, particularly driving his tractor. Mr. Sasso loved tinkering in his garage and making new "inventions" which he shared with family and friends. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Linda Sasso of Glasco and Patricia Tonzi and her husband, Travis, of Fountain Hills, AZ; a grandson, Steven Tonzi and his wife, Michelle, of Long Island; two great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Reese Tonzi; and his brother, Angelo Sasso & his wife, Rose Marie. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was pre-deceased by his sisters, Mary Sasso Ferraro, Fannie Sasso and Rose Sasso; and his brothers, Thomas, Charles, Michael, Dominick and Cosmo Sasso. Cremation services were private and under the direction of Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, NY. A memorial service is being planned for a future date. The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of Ten Broeck Commons for the wonderful care given to John.
