OBITUARY Saugerties – John Buono died suddenly at home on Sunday, December 8, 2013. He was 85 years old. Born December 24, 1927 in Glasco, he was the son of Frank and Mary Mauro Buono. His wife, Mary Zelasko Buono died February 1, 2010. John worked for more than 50 years as a toll taker on the New York State Thruway and was a member of Teamsters Local #72. An Army veteran of the Korean War he was also a member of American Legion Post #72 in Saugerties. He enjoyed gardening and was a well-known house painter in and around Saugerties. Survivors include his five sons, John , Paul, Daniel and Timothy all of Saugerties and James and his wife Kathleen of New Baltimore; two grandchildren, James and Rebecca Buono of New Baltimore: three brothers, Albert of Saugerties, Michael of Myrtle Beach SC and Joseph of Gilbert AZ; and by his sister Bernice Palumbo of Saugerties. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Vincent Buono. A Funeral procession will form 10:00 AM Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street Chapel, Saugerties, NY and then proceed to St. Mary of the Snow RC Church where at 10:30 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment with full military honors will follow immediately in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights.
