JoAnn Alice Dodig

JoAnn Alice Dodig of Saugerties passed away on October 17, 2026 at age 81. 

Born and raised in Malden, NY, JoAnn developed a lifelong love for the Hudson River and the Hudson Valley. JoAnn worked and retired from the Daily Freeman where she was a classified salesperson for many years.

Fiercely devoted to her family, JoAnn knew what mattered most in life. Family was everything to her. Nothing brought her more happiness than her children and grandchildren.

Joann never missed a game, match, recital, or concert involving family. She was always there cheering on her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. One of her favorite places was a picnic bench at the Cantine Field where you could find JoAnn proudly rooting from the sidelines.

A loyal fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants, JoAnn truly loved sports.

She was married on July 10th, 1964, to Robert Dodig Sr., who predeceased her.

JoAnn is survived by her daughter, Melissa Gallagher and her husband, Glenn; her son Robert Dodig Jr., and his wife Bridget Amico-Dodig; and the true apples of her eye, her three grandchildren, Ty Gallagher, Michaela Dodig, and Owen Gallagher.

In addition to her husband, JoAnn was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Jane (Fish) Stoly.

JoAnn will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on - in the cheers from the sidelines at Cantine, the beauty of the Hudson River, and most importantly, in the hearts of those who loved her.
