Joan "Joanie" Kistinger, 74 of Saugerties, NY passed away suddenly with little notice or suffering on September 04, 2018.

Joanie was born in Brooklyn, NY and relocated to Saugerties, NY forty years ago to be by her sister Dorothy Dodig and her children's fathers' family. She worked for the County of Ulster Department of Social Services- Child support department and retired as a supervisor/leader in the long time career. Those who worked with her knew her great wit to make someone laugh.

Survivors include her twin daughters, Ann Kistinger and Mary Kistinger. Her longtime partner of 30 years Fritz Harter from Germany, her dearly beloved sister Dorothy Dodig, Jill and Brendan Cohan, John and Lorrie Dodig, Jeff Dodig, Jay and Tracie Dodig and all of their children, her Sister-in-law Barbara Dumovich and her pre-deceased brother Michael Dumovich.

One of Joan's greatest joys was to be with her twin daughters, Ann Kistinger and Mary Kistinger. Although they moved away from Saugerties after college, she talked with them every day at a certain time. She was truly proud of them and was supportive in many ways. She also talked and laughed daily with her sister Dorothy Dodig. She was a loving partner and caretaker of her long term partner of 30 years Fritz Harter. She never complained but enjoyed her daily life. Her loving and generously giving qualities will surely be passed along to those whose lives she touched.

A memorial service without viewing will be held at Buono Funeral 100 Main Street, Saugerties, NY 12477 on Thursday September 13, 2018 from 10:30 – 12:30. Prayers and eulogy will be at 11:30. Flower can be accepted – she loved Carnations. Simple and beautiful like her
