Obituary

OBITUARY Jeannine M. Blundell-Kennedy, 49, entrepreneur chef and business woman, died peacefully at her home on Memorial Day, Monday May 26, 2014. Diagnosed with an aggressive advanced stage 4 sarcoma in September 2013, Jeannine took on an equally aggressive treatment strategy at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in New York supported by Benedictine Hospital's Oncology Department in Kingston, NY. She fought a hard battle with multiple chemotherapy treatments and a resection, never giving up hope and her fighting spirit but alas, succumbed to this disease. Ms. Blundell married Patrick E. Kennedy, an insurance consultant in NYC on August 25, 2001 in Saugerties, NY. They resided in Kingston, NY. Jeannine was a corporate officer of Blundell Adjustment Company, based in a unique stone house built in 1698 located in the Stockade district of Uptown Kingston. A multi-generational independent adjusting company founded in 1966 by her parents Ken and Patricia Blundell of Saugerties, NY and now headed by her sister Judith Blundell. Jeannine and Patrick met in 1995 at an insurance conference on Cape Cod, MA. As their relationship blossomed and they eventually married, they've been recognized attendee's at numerous insurance events throughout the United States and Canada. Jeannine, who was born May 17, 1965, is the daughter of Kenneth G. Blundell and Patricia (nee Danaher) Blundell of Saugerties, NY, the sixth of seven children. She was close to her siblings and their families. Married into the Kennedy family with Patrick being number seven of eight children. While Jeannine and Patrick did not have any children of their own, they have 31 nephews and nieces ranging in age from 36 to 3 and 13 grand grandnephews and nieces and a few more expected to arrive shortly. Jeannine loved them all as if they were her own. Jeannine graduated from John A. Coleman High School in Kingston in 1983, attended the Culinary Institute of America and Ulster Community College. She had a passion for good food and cooking which led her to travel in the U.S. and Europe and to create "Jeannine Cuisine", catering to private parties in the Hudson Valley. She and her sister Patsy also developed a baking company called "Mama Don't Bake" selling specialty baked goods to local grocery stores. More importantly, Jeannine was the chef de cuisine at frequent, large family gatherings. Another avocation was gardening and flower arranging which Jeannine learned from her mother Patricia who has been a member of the Saugerties Society of Little Gardens since 1977. Jeannine followed in her Mom's footsteps joining the Saugerties Garden Society in 2008, rising through the chairs and being appointed Vice President in 2013. Jeannine is survived by her parents; four older brothers, Ed, Ken Jr., John and Frank; and two sisters Judie and Patricia. Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc, 100 Main Street, Saugerties, NY 12477 between the hours of 2:00PM to 5:00PM and 7:00PM to 9:00PM.
