Janet Marie Teitter, 87, died June 23, 2018 at her home in Saugerties, New York, on McDonald St. due to complications from a long-term illness.

Janet was born on December 9, 1930, in Saugerties at her home on McDonald St. to Harold and Edna Mae Hommel. She met her future husband, Raymond Teitter, when she was 16. They courted for two years and married on May 28, 1950. They had three children, Raymond, Ronald, and Richard. While being a wife and mother, Janet continued working. She was employed as a sales clerk at J.J. Newberry Co. and floor supervisor at Ferox Cube. She also frequently worked at local polling places for local, state, and national elections. Janet continued to serve her community as well. She was a member and president of the Washington Hook & Ladder Co. Ladies' Auxiliary and a member and president of the American Legion Post 72 Ladies' Auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed plastic canvassing, knitting, doing word searches, reading romance novels, and watching the Hallmark channel.

Janet was beloved by her family and she will be sorely missed. She is survived by an older brother and sister, Bert Craven and Betty Ricketson, the above-mentioned three sons, 12 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Cremation was private and under the direction of Buono Funeral Service, Inc. Friends and family are invited to a graveside funeral service for Janet 11:00 AM Saturday, July 28 at St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights, Saugerties.
