Saugerties – George E. Nau died Thursday, January 19, 2017 after a long illness at HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley Broadway Campus in Kingston. He was 66 years old.
Born September 8, 1950 in Kingston, he was the son of John F. and Therese (Bittermann) Nau. He retired from Rotron where he was employed as an Electronic Technician.
Ham radios were his passion and he was known to other users by his call sign, AC2PG. He enjoyed building models including radio controlled planes and boats. George was also a tinkerer who liked to work on automobiles, heavy equipment and electronics. No job was too large or too small for him.
Survivors include his beloved girlfriend, Carla Vollheim; her children, Jonathan and Matthew Hoy; his siblings, John Nau Jr. and his wife Peg, Margaret Brown , Elizabeth Nau, Therese Landi and her husband Joe, Richard Nau, Rosemarie LaTourette and her husband Dave, Anne Lamb and her husband Herb and Diane Brzozowski and her husband Jim; by several nieces and nephews; and by his five adored kitties. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Raymond Nau.
Funeral services will be held 5:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, NY. Friends may call Sunday from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made in his memory to the Ulster County SPCA, 20 Wiedy Road, Kingston, NY 12401
