Saugerties, NY – George H. Bates died Sunday October 23, 2016 at Vassar Bros. Hospital in Poughkeepsie after short illness. He was 73 years old.

Born November 14, 1943 in Astoria Queens, he was the son of Dorothy Adams Bates and the late George W. Bates. On June 10, 1967 he married the former Martha Johnson. George hobbies and employment were always centered around cars and he was employed most recently by Advance Automotive.

In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by a cousin Lynn Finn in Ohio; his sister-in-law Peggy Battle and her husband Herman in Wingdale, NY; his nephew Jermaine Battle and his fiancé Margie; his niece Cherise Adams and her husband Spencer; and great nieces and nephews Leā and Jada Adams and Mariah, Jermaine Jr and Mason Battle

A memorial service will be held 2: 00 PM Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses on Mike Kraut Road in Saugerties. Cremation was private and under the direction of Buono Funeral Service, Saugerties.
