Saugerties – Frank. V. Porto passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, June12, 2017 at HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley Broadway Campus in Kingston. He was 96 years old.

Born February 12, 1921 in Glasco, NY he was the son of John Porto and Theresa Provenzano Porto. On November 18, 1945, he married the former Sarah Ruspoli who pre-deceased him on January 24, 2001, after 55 years of marriage.

During WWII, he served as a PFC in the European Theatre as a member of the 82nd Fighter Control Squad of the US Army Air Corps and until his death was a member of Lamouree-Hackett Post #72 American Legion in Saugerties. He retired from Laborers' International Union of North America Local No. 17 in Newburgh. He was a 65 year member.

Frank was a devoted family man. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family, especially the little ones and was always involved in every aspect of their lives. Frank was very patriotic and extremely proud of his Country and the military. He also had a love for animals and was an avid New York Yankees Fan.

Survivors include his two daughters, Conchetta Quinlan and her husband John and Debra Legg and her husband Paul; Five Grandchildren, Debra (Steven) Rauschendorfer, Sean (Katrina) Quinlan, Jason Legg, Michael (Nicole) Quinlan, and Marissa (John) Minkler; eight great-grandchildren, Stefan and Sondra Rauschendorfer, Julia, Jack James and Sarah Quinlan, and Giada and Bristol Minkler; and by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was pre-deceased by eight siblings, Anthony, Patsy, Thomas and John Porto, Frances Porto Martino, Mary Porto Gimmaro, Rose Porto Fondino, and Marguerite Porto Celelli.

The Family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to his many caretakers, including Dr. Craig Moss and the entire staff at Kington Hospital and his aides Christina and Vicky.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, June 16, 2017 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, NY. Interment with full military honors will follow immediately in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights. Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Frank's memory be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, the Disabled Veterans or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
