SAUGERTIES- Frank Palumbo died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at HealthAlliance Broadway Campus in Kingston. He was 83 years old.
Born May 1, 1931 in Melrose Park, Ill., he was the son of Frank and Kenia Compagna Palumbo. On June 10, 1962 he married the former Bernice Buono. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army and earned the Purple Heart. After more than 30 years with Local 17 Laborers Union he retired in 1993. He was a former member of the Glasco Fire Company and an avid Yankees and Knicks fan.
In addition to his wife, survivors also include two daughters, Serina Santonja and her husband Steve of Cornwall and Suzanne Winter and her husband Richard of Rochester; five grandchildren, Stephen Anthony Santonja, Shannen Marie Santonja, Robert Palumbo Winter, Taylor Rose Winter, and Joshua William Winter; his brother, Joseph Palumbo and sister, Virginia Marciano. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Robert an Peter Palumbo; two brothers, Michael and James Palumbo; and two sisters, Eleanor Serra and Theresa Bradley.
A Funeral procession will form 8:45 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, N.Y. and then proceed to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Glasco where at 9:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment with full military honors will follow immediately in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights. Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and again 7 to 9 p.m. at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street, Saugerties.
