Saugerties – Frances H. Gunderud of Highwoods passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 26, 2021. Affectionately known to her family and friends as "Fran" or "Frannie", she was 77 years old.

Born January 3, 1944 in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Rafaela "Ray" Quidone Buda and the late Frank Buda. On November 20, 1982 she married John Gunderud.

Frannie worked for many years as a professional baker for Grand Union Supermarkets and was also a small business owner in Woodstock. More recently, she worked in the home health care field. She loved gardening, crafting and photography and often made her grand kids, and her natural surroundings, the subject of her photography. Being artistically inclined, she enjoyed music and dancing as well. She enjoyed hosting holiday parties for her huge and extended family and friends. Her favorite place to travel was to the Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City which she often referred to as her "second home".

In addition to her husband John, survivors include: her three sons George (Cathy) Fatizzi, John Karpf and Michael Karpf; her daughter Rayann (Jacob) Fatizzi: her stepchildren, John Gunderud, Susan (Tom) Whitaker, and Staci (Eric) Delmastro; her sister, Elizabeth Labarr; and her brother, Salvatore (Sue) Buda. She is also survived by eleven grandsons: two great grandsons; a great granddaughter: several nieces and nephews, and her dear best friend Cate Baran.
