Edward M. "Ed" Tucker, Sr., of Saugerties, New York, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Albany Medical Center. His outgoing personality and love for his family brought him many friends throughout his life. He truly loved his family and friends and made sure that all of them knew. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all that knew and loved him. Ed was born on November 26, 1929 in Yonkers, New York to Philip Tucker and Mary McGowan. Ed graduated with high honors from Kingston High School and entered the Navy in September of 1948. Ed served his country and was an Airman for the U.S. Navy. Ed worked for the St. Lawrence Cement Plant in Hudson, where he retired.
Ed is survived by his brother William Tucker and his sister in law Dolores of Huntington and a sister Shirley O'Hara of Scarsdale. He is predeceased by a sister Elaine Galgano of Great Neck and a brother Donald Tucker. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ed is predeceased by his loving wife Patricia Tucker. They went on to have eight children, a son Edward Tucker (MaryBeth) of Saugerties, Bruce Tucker (Terri) of Saugerties, a son Philip Tucker (Terry) of Niskayuna, a son Donald Tucker (Barbara) of Saugerties, a daughter Joanne Rea (Thomas) of Saugerties, a son Gerry Tucker (Ronda) of Saugerties, a daughter Laurie Tucker (Julie) of Pine Island, and a son Kevin Tucker (Gina) of Saugerties. Ed is also survived by two special women who will always remain his daughter in laws, Judy Tucker and Sue Tucker and by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ed was a huge baseball fan and enjoyed going to see his brother's baseball team the "Volcano's" and was an avid Yankees fan. He loved going to all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's events. He was so proud of his family and his community.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to pay their respects at the Buono Funeral Service, Inc. located at 100 Main Street Saugerties NY on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Procession will form 9:15 am Saturday at Buono Funeral Service, Inc. and then proceed to St. Mary of the Snow Church in Saugerties where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery.
