Saugerties, NY – Bernice "Bea" Palumbo died on Friday, December 2, 2022 with her daughters at her side, in Rochester, NY. She was 84 years old.

Born September 17, 1938 in Glasco, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank Buono, Sr. and the late Mary Mauro Buono. On June 10, 1962 she married Frank Palumbo who pre-deceased her on April 22, 2015.

She retired from Ulster County Health Department and had been previously employed by Ferroxcube Corporation in Saugerties, as well as several local Delicatessens. A graduate of Ulster County Community College, she earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science. She was also a licensed hairstylist and worked out of a shop in the front of her home for many years. Favorite pastimes were knitting, tending to her flower gardens and entertaining her family and friends.

Bernice was a loving mother and grandmother, who was always there for everyone. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her two daughters, Serina Santonja and her husband Steve of Cornwall, NY and Suzanne Winter and her husband Richard of Rochester, NY; five grandchildren, Stephen Anthony Santonja, Shannen Marie Santonja, Robert Palumbo Winter, Taylor Rose Winter, and Joshua William Winter; her brother Michael "Buddy" Buono of Utica, NY; her aunt Louise Jones of Lake Katrine; many nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored and equally adored her.

She was pre-deceased by two sons, Peter and Robert Palumbo; and by five brothers, Vincent, Frank, Albert, John and Joseph Buono.

A funeral procession will form 9:15 am Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, NY and then proceed to St. Joseph Church in Glasco, where a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow immediately in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights. Friends may call Friday, December 9, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.
