Saugerties, NY – Benjamin F. Hill died peacefully Sunday, August 21, 2016 at home. He was 96 years old.

Born January 9, 1920 in Saugerties, he was the son of Russell and Harriett "Haddy" Berryann Hill. He married the former Shirley Bonesteel on November 24, 1940; she pre-deceased him after 73 years of marriage on March 4, 2014.

He is the former proprietor of Ben Hill Well Drilling. He was a life member of Centerville Fire Company. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of both the Rip Van Winkle Sportsman's Club and the Saugerties Fish & Game Club. In addition to Bowling and playing cards he spent time as a member of the Highwoods and the Saugerties Dartball Leagues. He also was a life time collector of coins.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Ziliani of Palenville and Brenda Hill of Saugerties and two sons, Benjamin Barry Hill and Bart Hill both of Palenville; ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and one great-greatgrandchild and a sister Peggy Shortt, He was pre-deceased by 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, August 26, 2016 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, NY. Interment will follow in Blue Mountain Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.
