Saugerties – Anthony L. "Tony" Amato died Friday July 12, 2019 at the Hospice at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. He was 48 years old.
Born November 16, 1970 in Kingston, he was the son of Marilyn Crismond Amato and the late Peter Amato. On August 26, 2000, he married the former Sherri Bolde.
Well known for organizing and being a part of many local benefits, Tony played the bass guitar and over the years was a member of several area bands including Burning Cold, The Standard Assault, Groove Tool, and Head Stomp Syndicate. He was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan. His favorite past time was wood cutting and was often noted on social media for his broad interest, knowledge and activity.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife Sherri Bolde Amato; two children Natasha Bolde-Nakapaahu and her husband James of Glasco and Anthony J. Amato at home; three brothers, Peter and Akiko of Gainesville, FL, John and Jane of Saugerties, Michael and Trisha of Kingston; by several nieces and nephews; and by many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was pre-deceased by his father, Peter in 2003 and by his brother Chuck in 2010.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, NY. Interment will follow immediately in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights, Saugerties. Friends may call Tuesday 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.
