Saugerties – Angelo "Sonny" died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. He was 91 years young.

Born March 27, 1927 in Glasco, he was the son of Angelo and Laura Cashara Staccio. On March 17, 1962 he married the former Betsy Hansen who pre-deceased him on August 4, 2001.

After attending Saugerties High School he was a Seaman First Class in the US Navy during WWII serving as a Seabee. Following his navy career he remained active in many veterans organizations including Island X9 with his fellow Seabees. He retired from the Village of Saugerties DPW and was a school bus driver for School Transit and Lezette Express and is also a former superintendant of St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery. A lifetime member of the Saugerties Fire Department, he was a member of the Exempt Fireman's Association.

Survivors include four children, Laurie Myer and her husband Rob, Josep h Staccio and his wife Sharon, Doris Torchia and her husband Michael, and James Staccio and his wife Danielle; and 8 grandchildren, Melinda, Lauren, Ashley and Jamie Myer, Cheryl Cooper , Jeremy Staccio, and Zachary and Joshua Torchia. He was pre-deceased by his sister Doris Melius in 2016.

A Funeral procession will form 11:15 AM Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., and then proceed to St. Joseph's Church in Glasco where a 12:00 Noon Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment with full military honors will follow immediately in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights. Friends may call Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.
