Hurley – Amelia Auer, formely of Kingston and Saugerties, died Tuesday January 17, 2017 at HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley, Broadway in Kingston. She was 76 years old.
Born January 23, 1940 in Santa Domingo, DR, she was the daughter of Luis F. and Mercedes (Pon) Colon. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Henry Auer in 1989 and her son Albert in 1996.
A former employee of KTB and its successor Treasure Chest in Saugerties, she also worked for Rotron and as a seamstress. She was also a former member of the Elks Auxiliary in Saugerties.
Amelia loved to spend time with her family and often was seen in the company of her sisters. She enjoyed Bingo, playing cards and video games, but her passion was cooking.
Survivors include her daughterAmelia Gritman of Hurley and her son Henry Jr. of Kingston; her grandchildren, Mark and his wife Amanda, Brian, Daniel and his wife Cindy, Zachary, Olivia, and John Auer and Dylan and his fiancé Kerri, Devin and Dustin Gritman; her great-grandchildren, Ehren and Elena Auer; her sisters Carmen Amell, Mercy Auer, Miriam Osterhoudt, and Virginia Krajewski; and her former son-in-law, Charles Gritman. In addition to her husband and son she was pre-deceased by siblings, Raymunda Bonnet, Luisa Valdes, Yvonne Adams, Nilda Mertes, Frank Colon and Ralph Colon
A Funeral procession will form 9:15 AM Friday, January 20, 2017 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Chapel, Saugerties, NY and then proceed to St. Mary of the Snow where an 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow immediately in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights. Friends may call Thursday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.
