OBITUARY Saugerties – Rev. Mr. Edwin R. Topple, Deacon of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Centerville, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Kingston Hospital. He was 88 years old. Ed was born November 26, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY the son of George and Dorothy James Topple. He married the former Rose Bacovcin on January 18, 1944. He served in the US Army during WWII. Following the war he worked as a photographer and photo engraver. He was also a self employed commercial artist. A parishioner of St. John the Evangelist in Centerville for more than 50 years He was ordained a Deacon on May 24, 1986. He was the Eucharistic Minister Coordinator for 30 years, RCIA director, Moderator of the Altar Rosary Society, and served on the Parish Council. He also trained and supervised the Altar Servers. For more than 27 years he volunteered at Benedictine Hospital serving many ministries. In addition to his wife, Rose, he is survived by two daughters, Lorraine McKeon of Syracuse, NY and Carol Koop of Wallkill, NY; five Grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother George Topple. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Parish Center in Centerville. Interment with full military honors will follow immediately in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights. Friends may call Friday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at St. John the Evangelist. Arrangements are under the direction of Buono Funeral Service, Inc.
