Saugerties ? John F. Howe of Blue Mountain died on April 17, 2008 at Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill, NY . He was 93 years old. Born January 18, 1915 in the Bronx, he was the son of the late Catherine Jennings Howe and William J. Howe. John grew up in Manhattan and graduated from LaSalle Academy in NYC. Mr. Howe was a New York City Fireman for 22 years retiring in 1961. Afterwards he was employed by Morgan Guaranty Trust Co in NYC, and eventually relocated his family to their summer home in Saugerties in 1971. John worked for Ulster Savings Bank in Kingston retiring in 1980. He married Margaret T. Beston on June 20, 1942, whom he met at Windham, NY, Margaret pre-deceased him on February 27, 2000. Devoted father of two daughters: Mary E. Clarke of Shelton, CT, and Margaret M. ?Peggy? Fros of Kingston; four sons, John J. of Garden City, NY, Robert ?Bob? M. at home, James G. who pre-deceased him October of 1973, and Daniel of Boston, MA and his caregiver Fran Love: six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Centerville. He was an avid sports fan and participated in many sports throughout his life. Mr. Howe was inducted into the West Saugerties Softball Hall of Fame in 1985. He enjoyed life. Always laughing, joking and smiling were Mr. Howe?s trademark. He touched many people?s lives and everybody loved him. A Funeral procession will form 9:15 AM Monday, April 21, 2008 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street Chapel, Saugerties, NY and then proceed to St. John the Evangelist Parish Center in Centerville, where a 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Rev. Francis Gunn, Pastor of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Manhattan and Monsignor William Williams, Pastor of St. John the Evangelist will officiate. Interment will follow immediately in Blue Mountain Cemetery, Saugerties, NY. Friends may call Saturday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Wednesday, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.
