Gerald "Jake" Wolven

Saugerties – Gerald “Jake” Wolven died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, NY. He was 74 years old. He was born April 24, 1934 in Kingston, NY the son of Raymond Sr. & Elsie Martin Wolven. A life long Saugerties resident he was formerly employed by the Cantine Paper Mill of Saugerties and was the retired Superintendant of Mountain View Cemetery in Saugerties. He was a life member of the Washington Hook and Ladder Fire Co in Saugerties and a life member of the Saugerties Exempt Firemen’s Association. Jake enjoyed fishing and was a avid bowler. Survivors include two brothers, Robert “Mouse” Wolven of Florida and Earl “Snowball” Wolven of Arizona; one sister, Betty Peters and her husband Wally of Saugerties; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, William Wolven and Raymond “Bud” Wolven; and one sister, Patricia MaGee died previously. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street Chapel, Saugerties, NY. Deacon Hank Smith of St. Mary of the Snow Church will officiate. Interment will follow immediately in Mt. View Cemetery, Main Street, Saugerties. Friends may call Friday 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.
