Glasco – Angelo M. Sasso “Choeper” died at home on Sunday April 10, 2016. He was 90 years old. Born March 6, 1926 in Glasco, he was the son of Angelo and Teresa Yannone Sasso. On February 4, 1950 he married Rosemarie Bonavita. He retired from the Szabo Vending company. During WW II he served with the US Army Rainbow Division in the European Theater. He was a POW. A lifetime member of the Glasco Fire Company, he also was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church. Angelo enjoyed passing his time tinkering with automobiles, small engines and electronics. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Maureen Lugo and her husband Noel of Plainfield, NJ, Frank Sasso and his wife Rosemary of Saugerties, and Joseph and his wife Maria of Glasco; seven grandchildren Shayne Lugo & his wife Eva, Andrea Simmons and her husband Caine, Anthony Sasso, Nicole Sasso, Ashley Sasso, Angela Sasso and her fiancé Billy, Michael Sasso and his wife Victoria, and his granddaughter-in-law Miranda Bogert; and by eight great-grandchildren Shay Noelle, Jaxon, Luca, Dominic, Saydre, Mariyah, Tianna and Jase. He was predeceased by two grandsons, Justin Lugo and Joseph Sasso; and by his sisters, Mary Sasso Ferraro, Fannie Sasso and Rose Sasso; and his brothers, Thomas, Charles, Michael, Dominick, John and Cosmo Sasso. A Funeral procession will form 9:30 AM Friday, April 15, 2016 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, NY and then proceed to St. Joseph’s RC Church in Glasco where a 10: 15 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment with full military honors will follow at St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights. Friends may call Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Main Street, Saugerties. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation in his memory be made to the Make A Wish Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
